The family unit is the cornerstone of a healthy community. Virginia Cooperative Extension’s Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) program area strives to improve the well-being of Virginia families through programs that help put research-based knowledge to work in people’s lives. FCS programs reach tens of thousands of families across the commonwealth each year helping Virginians make good choices for themselves and their families. This, in turn, strengthens their communities and the commonwealth. Increased financial support is necessary to continue to improve the quality of educational programs for which FCS is known. You can make a difference by contributing to the Virginia FCS Foundation Fund.
Whether preventing chronic disease with a healthy diet, purchasing a family home, handling food safely, using credit wisely, planning for elder care needs, or identifying quality childcare, Virginians benefit from the comprehensive education in three FCS areas: 1) food, nutrition and health; 2) family financial management; and 3) family and human development. FCS programs help youth and adults develop and practice skills to improve their quality of life and become caring, contributing citizens.
Help FCS help others…. your gift can support the following areas:
Your gift will support and enhance the VCE family and consumer sciences program. Support from individuals, companies, foundations and other organizations enable us to fund innovative new programs and improve existing programs throughout Virginia. Gifts of any size are welcome and may be made in several ways.
Your gift to the Virginia FCS Foundation Fund could be doubled if your company matches charitable gifts. To see if your employer is among the matching-gift companies, check with your personnel office. Complete the necessary form and return it with your gift.
You can donate to VCE FCS in a variety of ways, including current gifts such as cash, property, corporate matching, and securities; or planned gifts such as life insurance, wills/bequests, memorials, and charitable trusts/annuities. Many large gifts require careful planning. Virginia Cooperative Extension welcomes the opportunity to work with prospective donors.
A gift to VCE FCS can be designated to a specific FCS program area or focus. It can also be designated to support VCE FCS faculty positions, a county FCS program, the Living Well Newsletter, or a combination of these.
