Personal Financial Management Course: National Extension Course on the Internet

Financial Success: Recovery after Bankruptcy -- an approved debtor education course*offer by eXtension

This eXtension course, Financial Success: Recovery after Bankruptcy, was developed by a team of personal finance specialists who are university faculty members. They come from land grant universities across the nation. The course is drawn from classes they offer and materials they have developed in their respective universities, and it has been vetted through a peer review process.

To get to the course site, click on the link below. You will be asked to create an account. This will allow you to enroll in the course. After creating the account, the site will send a message to your email address that verifies your account. Next you will be asked to pay the $20 fee to PayPal or enter an enrollment key. The enrollment key will be provided after you pay the fee or get permission to start the course through a fee waiver. If you receive a fee waiver (see below for instructions) you will also receive the enrollment key at that time. Be sure to complete the course in one sitting, because the course cannot save your place if you leave the site before finishing. •      *Approved by the United States Department of Justice to issue certificates evidencing completion of a personal financial management instructional course in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code. Approval does not endorse or assure the quality of a Provider's services.

•       The cost for the Financial Success course is $20. Couples who have for bankruptcy jointly must complete the course separately. Payment will be made through PayPal.

•       The course is offered without regard to one's ability to pay. If your attorney has handled your bankruptcy case pro bono, submit a signed letter from your attorney by email or FAX to that effect and we will waive your fee. You also may receive a fee waiver if your income is below 200% of the Federal poverty threshold: contact us with the number of people in your household and your household income as of the last tax filing period. Submit a signed and notarized statement with that information and FAX it to Sharon Seiling at 614-688-8133 or send by email attachment to seiling.1@osu.edu  to receive a fee waiver.

•       This course is available 24/7; however the certificates will be provided during business hours from 8:30 AM to 

5:00 PM Central Time the next business day after completing the class.

We offer the course in all judicial districts covered by the U. S. Trustees Program EXCEPT those in Oregon.
